Default Ota Antenna For High Def And Standard Def?

Hello,

I have mediacom cable and the high def box i am still waiting for (42 days and counting) will only get me 2 local stations in high def without subscribing to their hd package (an additional 10$ a month.)
i am considering dropping the cable and using an OTA Antenna to run directly to my widescreen and branch off that signal to my other 3 tv's. i have tried the most expensive set of rabbit ears for the other tv's but reception is poor. So i need to have them connected to the outside antenna. WIll this effect my signal to widescreen for high def?

As you can see i am totally clueless and would appreciatte any help.

i have been to the antenna website and requested a suggestion from them. they told me i need a small multidirectional with a rotator and pre amp. my signals are less than 20 miles in any direction.

Please help!

1. Take a look at relatively recent posts herein about multiple tv's on one antenna. I recall it's "do able".

2. Paste your exact channel info from antennaweb.org and some of the guys hereon can give you better thoughts on antenna specifics and likely success.

There is no charge for the digital locals, they're part of basic cable (by law). The only question is whether they're carried yet or not.

Mediacom in the central IA market was rebroadcasting two of the local HD OTA stations' signals last time i checked. if you have QAM in the clear tuning ability, you could get these with just regular cable.
