Default How to hook up OTA antenna with DISH without signal loss?

Hi Everyone,

I live at 54016, and I just picked up a DB2 indoor antenna. It picks up all of the Twin Cities HDTV stations when hooked directly to my TV, and they look great. However, when I run it into the antenna connection on my DISH box, I get a total of 2 fuzzy analog stations....

Seeing as how my TV only has one coax hookup, is there anyway that I can watch HDTV and switch to satellite without changing the cables in the back of the TV? I apologize in advance if this is a basic question.... I checked about 20 pages of this forum and couldn't find the answer I needed.
Thanks in advance for the assistance!

It could be that the ATSC tuner in your TV is much better than the tuner in you Sat box. But that sounds a bit too extreme.. A few channels or bars yes, but when you say all with and none without..... It sounds like more of a setup issue to me. And only weak analog?? Are you sure you setup and scanned correctly for digital stations in the off air setup menu??? And is you Dish box even HD??? If not, it will only have an analog NTSC tuner and that is why you only get analog stations and not digital. Give us the model of your HD (or SD) Dish receiver we can assist more.

Why would you need to swap cables on your TV's single coax (RF) connection? Are you saying you use that same coax connection for your Dish receiver as well? If so, don't.. Just leave the antenna connected to it and connect your receiver via component video (if HD) or S-video (if SD). Then just switch between Antenna and Video1 (or whatever). No need to change cables at all, just video inputs with your remote.

Thanks so much!
I guess I didn't realize I need a HD receiver... I figured the signal would eventually get to my TV's Tuner...

I'll have to move my HD receiver from downstairs, upstairs.... Or connect the receiver via S-video if my wife can't live without a DVR in the bedroom.

Many thanks!

PS... I love your sig! Best SNL skit ever.
