They say that to receive an HD signal you have to get a box from your cable or satellite company .
If a guy was using the same tv with one hooked up to ota , and one hooked up to lets say a dish hd service . Watching the same program would look the exact same . They tell me no , one guy would be looking at a digital ota product . While the other would be viewing a hd product .
Can you help me with this ?
I am confused
Thanks so much
I have no idea what they are telling you. It does not sound correct to me, but it may be that where you live is out of range to receive OTA and they just did a bad job explaining. If you can receive OTA service, it will be HDTV if the stations are broadcasting in HDTV. It is true all digital TV is not necessarily HDTV, but most of the network affiliates will broadcast in HDTV.

Anytime you talk with anyone from a big-box store, be sure you get a second opinion, as most of them aren't trained in any formal way. The watchword here is unconscious incompetence!

If you really want to know what HDTV is available to you over-the-air where you live, give us your zip code, and we can zero in on your location and situation. What the guy at the store told you is nonsense and gobbldygook!
