Default Homemade antenna

Well after reading about them for a couple weeks, I decided I would build one.
I had a piece of plain while board that I got at Walmart to use for a shelf. I drilled some screws and got some copper wire at Walmart for $5 bucks... Now I get all the channels including CBS and FOX, which I couldnt get with either of the antennas I had, $9 dollar and a $45 dollar antenna. I was doubtful that it would work, but I am hear to say it does. Thanks for the ideas!

You can tune it to the channels you receive by adjusting the length of the various cat whiskers to match the wavelength of a channel.

A reflector would help also.

I couldn’t pick up FOX or CBS HD, now with this I get them both. I don’t know if that is VHF or UHF channels but it works great.

Ha-ha… it doesn’t look good but works awesome! I am going to put it up in the top of ceiling. I have 15 foot ceiling so it will blend right in with the white.

I am so surprised and amazed. I paid $50 bucks for an antenna and couldn’t get 2 of 4 major channels. I build this thing for less then $10 bucks and get everything… Doesn’t make sense to me... How or Why? Does this work better then the others? It’s so simple….!?

Dude-

That thing is a lot like some of the women I used to date... UG-LEE!!!!!!!!!!

If I put that thing anywhere in my house, my wife would pull it down and beat me with it!

Ahhhh..... to be a bachelor again................

Hey Wyatt, just tell everyone it's a piece of "modern art" you bought at an art gallery for "less than a grand!".

They'll be impressed, and you'll have great HD television.

That would definitely get my wife yelling at me. I built one using a 2x4 and some brass plated coat hangers from Walmart mounted in a Christmas tree stand. First attempt with no reflector was no better than the RS UHF/VHF outdoor antenna sitting on some boxes also in the attic. I cut open a large aluminum cooking pan I picked up at last night Dollar General and stuck it to the back with thumb tacks. I'll try that revision out tonight.

What works is good, however I don't think it looks right yet. The vertical wires should criss cross back and forth to get the elements in phase. Space them off the board. Put a tinfoil reflector behind the whiteboard. You must be close to the signals. You could probably get by with two bays. Check the lumenlab dot com thread and the video on youtube. Happy experimenting!
