Default OTA ABC HD Reception in Atlanta, GA area

I have a quick question- I have Directv and I use a Zenith Silver Sensor for local channels. I get them all but for a week now ABC is not showing a picture or sound even though I have 90% reception. Any ideas???

I have the Direct TV OTA Atenna and is usually hit or miss, but I believe that I had your problem last week......

Is the screen just totally black? But when you hit info, it shows the listing that should be on?

If so, go to Menu, Setup, Atenna and Cable, Scan Type Off Air and STD Cable. Then press Okay and let it scan through. It will take about 2 minutes.

After it is complete, unplug recievier for 15 seconds and restart.

This should work.

Please let me know if it does or doesn't.

Default I found this on WSB's website

I have been having the same problem. I will try the suggested solution that was already posted. I pulled the text below straight from their website. Here is a direct link:

WSB-DT Makes Required Change to Digital Encoder

POSTED: 4:59 am EST December 21, 2004

ATLANTA -- WSB-DT performed technical changes Monday to its digital encoder as part of an FCC requirement.

In order to receive WSB-DT's digital signal, viewers must force their set to go through an auto-rescan in order to recover and receive the signal.

Viewers should consult the directions for instructions on how to program the set to re-scan.

Hi. I live in the Atlanta area. I know what stations are broadcasting HD, but I was wondering if there was somewhere I could go to find out exactly which shows they broadcast in HD. Thanks.

I use the Voom channel listing. It shows the local channels as well as their HD channels.

http://www.voom.com/use_it/index.shtml

click on See Today's Lineup.

Go to http://www.antennaweb.org and plug in your address. It will tell you exactly what channels you should expect to receive and what type of antenna (via the color code) you'll need to pick them up. FYI, if you are only interested in receiving the digital stations that broadcast programs in HD, sort on that and it will narrow the scope to a more defined list.

thanks Ron, antenna web says I need a large directional. it also shows that no locals are broadcasting in digital. Does that mean the analogs are not broadcsting HDTV signals? ( Fox CBS ETC?).

Also do you think a large directional will work in the attic if I can get a reasonable aim & the monster will fit to start with?

Good to see you survived Mardi Gras. I married a gal from Metarie & have 2 stepsons at LSU..

Nope you are SOL for HD if the only channels you can get are analog. You can't get HD unless it's via a digital signal. I wouldn't waste any more time and effort if that's all you can get. Better pray that your area gets the green light from the network to offer HD via a satillite.

I use to live in Metairie when I first moved here. Ended up moving to what they call the "north-shore" about 10 years ago. You got a lot more bang for your buck on land where I'm at, but now the move is increasing to my side of the lake and with it the prices are climbing as well. Glad I bought when I did.
