I had trouble receiving NBC until I upgraded my cable, but I found out that NBC is only broadcasting at about 1/2 the power of the other stations

Default Almost had WNBC-NY

This morning WNBC-DT locked in for a few minutes at about 58-60% but then was lost again. I'm in Flanders, 07836. Stumbled across something strange, Titan TV for my zip does not include WNBC! Does anyone know what power NBC is broadcasting at? CBS and ABC still at 100% Still confused.

I'm about 25 miles due north of the ESB. WNBC comes in at between 90 and 100% here. I am using a pre-amp.

I had MY9 lock in the other morning but I cant get it at nite. NBC doesnt come in at all. My screen doesnt go blue and say "no signal", it just goes black for both stations as if the signal is not strong enough. I have a Terk HDTVI connected to the receiver behind the TV and it picks up all the other locals + CH. 41 and CH. 58.5 for PBS. I dont get CH 61.1 which is the CH. 13 HD station. DTV is installing HD on Sunday and I have a Terk TV35 antenna which I'll ask them to install on the roof and hopefully that will solve the MY9 problem as DTV doesnt off MY9 as part of their HD locals package.

Default WNBC still missing in Flanders, NJ

Before I go out and buy another new antenna (DB4 & DB8) should I consider a new tuner like the Samsung DTB-H260F. As a refresher I'm in Flanders NJ 07836 about 1100' up clear view to east and am getting cbs & abc at 100% but not getting nbc. Current set-up is DB8 with RG6 quad cable into a dish network box. Also might try a CM4228 or a yagi type but since nbc is at channel 28 the CM4228 might be better?

While it's true that the DB-8 favors the higher frequencies, and the 4228 favors the lower frequencies, I don't think that it's worth replacing your DB-8 with a 4228. Are you currently using a rotator or a preamp? If not, I would tend to put my money there. I did an antenna system in Hackettstown a while back, and actually found that I got WCAU-DT from Philly better than I did WNBC-DT , probably because of the alignment of the hills in that area that tend to block signals from NYC. A turn of your antenna will tell you...

No I'm not using a rotor or a preamp. I'm using a combiner for dish and antenna on the same line and the Dish guy said the preamp was messing up his dish. I'll try bypassing the combiner and adding a preamp to see if that cures my problem. BTW, last time I bypassed the combiner the signal went up on the channels that could go up by a couple of points but still no NBC-DT

OK, now you have me stumped...I wonder if manually entering 28.1 into your tuner would have any effect? I am usually leery of diplexers, as they seem to eat some UHF channels, and leave others alone. WNBC-DT does have a construction permit to move their transmitter from the GE building to the ESB with the other broadcasters, and I wonder if that will eventually help you.

I'll get back on the roof this weekend and try to find a position where NBC-DT might come in without losing the other channels that come in great. I'll let you know what worked and what didn't.
Thanks

All our locals are at 76 degrees. The other day I spoke to an engineer at Ch. 13 and he told me that NBC is not putting out a full signal and neither are they hence the problem I have receiving them on my Terk HDTVi. I cant see why you, when using a roof antenna w/a much easier look than I have, are not getting them. Are you getting 13?

I wish it would be just a little turn.
I am from the Poconos and think I would be able to pickup Philly better then in Hackettstown...
I have a Winegard 7084P with Winegard Amp...
I am picking up the Scranton Pa. area HD stations on VHF with nooooo problems, when it comes to UHF HD stations I can get CBS,NBC and 4 PBS stations in Scranton area,My Zip is 18322...
For a month I was not able to get Abc and Fox from scranton BUT last night a had a signal of 6 out of 10 and was able to get ABC and another station on my Samsung 4253...
Today I LOST my Abc and the other station that brodcast the weather....
So wondering are they brodcasting in 1/2 power? So maybe in the near future when they brodcast in FULL power I will be able to get them????johnnyT

The poconos are causing your reception issues blocking signal.

The hd7084p is a great combo but the 91xg or cm4228 would have more horsepower on the uhf side.

You can combine a 91xg for uhf and use your hd7084p for vhf. I did that here with my hd8200p with some fancy inexpensive gadgets and got the best of both worlds...and improved uhf performance.

I am sure it will help,I have not put my antenna on the roof yet,its just on my second floor deck and when I do get a little help on the roof, maybe I will pickup another 10 feet...
Before I buy the 91xg I want to make sure the antennas on the roof.
Fox told me that they are at half power so wondering maybe Abc is at half power too if that makes any sense?????I just bought the Channel Master Mount that you have Rick but I will have to get some time to put it on the roof.......JohnnyT

I just tried bypassing the diplexer. Same as last time, signal went up 2-3 points on some of the weaker channels but still no WNBC-DT. Added a amp and finally got WNBC-Dt at about 66. Without amp WCBS & WABC where both at 100 and Fox was at 88. Did pick-up a couple of new channels so I guess I need to run a new line to get rid od the diplexer and add a amp. Any risk of too much amp considering two channels are maxed without one?

At the distance that you are from the transmitters, I think that there is little risk of overloading either a preamp or a tuner. Running a separate line is always a good idea, since, as I said before, diplexers can do strange things to UHF signals. Just out of curiosity, what kind of a preamplifier did you use?
