While the newer design balun doesn't magically make the DB4 into a long range VHF antenna, it permits some additional high-VHF reception compared to the original matching transformer and the upgrade seems to help folks. Your TVfool forecasts shows plenty on margin, even for an less than efficient antenna. If the modded DB4 doesn't work, the V10, selected only for its high-VHF performance and connected to the DB4 with an UVSJ, would do fine based on your TVfool forecast. There's no need to throw a V15 up there with its 9' wide elements intended for low-VHF. If you want to stay compact, the C5 would be suggested since it would likely do fine on your UHF stations in addition to the high-VHFs. Last edited by projectsho89; 10-04-2009 at 08:55 PM. |

Thanks for the correction on the V15, but could you please clarify how you determined that the unidirectional nature of the V10 would suffice, given that the transmitters a distributed over a 72 degree spread? I'm trying to learn the specifics.
