Has anyone found the Radio Shack double bowtie anywhere? It's out of stock on their web page and I have found no stores with it in stock.

This antenna might help in my situation. So UHF is channels 14-69? lol, I always thought it was the other way around.

The price sounds good, since Wal-Marts antennas (though they don't look as good as this one) fall in the same price range.

$14 seems doable for me. Before I do buy this, will it help pickup any of my local UHF channels (digital of coarse)? Refer to my thread for my current situation. (tigerbangs has already posted)

The attic may be a good place for this if I can't get it on the roof. (there isn't much metalic objects up there other then the ducts, but from where they are located, I don't think that would be an issue)

Soldering doesn't scare me a bit. I am good with electronics so this shouln't be a problem.

Ok here's the mandatory dumb question. The CM 4228 interests me but then what do I do about VHF. I assume I would need a separate antenna and lead?

Actually the 4228 does pick up VHF, so that will most likely work for ya. You can always just get a good combo antenna like the Winegard HD 7082/7084p depending on distance.

The need for VHF varies depending on the channel assignments in your area. The 4228 does OK when the VHF channel is 10 or 13, awful on 2-6, and so-so on 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12.
Look here for the data. It's the last graph on the page.

Which VHF channel(s) are used in your area?

About a year and a half ago I finally got a nice 50" plasma (with tuners). I have used this Radio Shack 15-624 since then inside a wood-frame house with plaster walls, sitting on the floor behind the entertainment center. It delivers great HDTV (NBC; ABC; CBS; PBS) unless it is raining heavily, or a strong wind is blowing. I'm in rural Maine (Lisbon), 32 miles from towers around Portland, Maine. I initially got the antenna just to check possibility of OTA HDTV, but haven't ever felt like I needed to do more! Yes - a larger outside antenna with rotor would be preferred, but this one is no slouch. However, I want another and cannot find one!

use one of these instead. Eagle Aspen DTV2BUHF 2-Bay UHF Antenna. works better. use one at home. similar in performance to a DB-2 at half the price.

Ya know it's really NOT helpful to advise people to get outdoor antennas when that's NOT what they want.

It is when what they want won't work. Why bold everything? It's not like you're saying something important.

Indoor antennas are asking for multipath and weaker signal.

Because *this topic* is about INDOOR antennas, not outdoor. (Think somebody living in an apartment or condo, who can't use outdoor antennas.) Giving advice to "buy an outdoor antenna" is not helpful to those persons.

I have tried & had MUCH success with this:
Philips PHDTV3 Indoor HDTV UHF/VHF Powered Antenna

P.S. If you open up the plastic case (see the inset in post #27), you will find a directional log-periodic antenna like so.

Basically this indoor antenna is a mini-version of a rooftop antenna.
Using this, I can receive distant stations from Philly and Scranton and Washington.

Well in my area I am lucky enough to be very near all of my HD towers so an outdoor antenna is unnecessary. I use a Terk HDTVi and it works very well for all those rooftop antenna snobs. It even pulls in some digital stations several cities away. I am in Wilmington, NC and the other night it pulled in WRAZ-DT, which is a local for Raleigh/Fayetteville. I was amazed because that is not exactly around the corner (120 miles). Also pulled in a station from Greenville, NC(90 miles away).

I live in the Boca Raton Fl area. Do you have a clue if something like this would work in my area? There are numerous towers near me but I'm not sure if they are the type that transmits tv signals. Thanks all.
