Also added a new rotor, mast bearing and a CM7777 preamp to make it all work. Should have it all together in three weeks. When it's operational, I'll give a reception report, from north of Lake Ontario.
Well? I got everything but my tower. I put the YA1713 up on the roof, under the PR8800 and the CM7777 preamp up and running. Just waiting for the tower. The system is 23 feet in the air and there was a definate uptick in reception. Once I get the tower and the rotor up, then it will be twice as high and should be good. More info will follow, once the tower is setup and I go primetime.

Question Help someone please,

Hello I have recently installed an antenna system, my zip is 25007, I have a 8200u, 91xg,a cm777, with a rotor, on a 45' tower, I have 5' spacing between the two antennas, and the preamp switch set to separate, when I first fired everything up I had a near perfect picture for 20 seconds then it turned black with thick bars rolling through it, with no UHF channels at all, but with my old junk antenna with no pre-amp I had one UHF station perfect, and two poor vhf stations. I need help someone. can I join these two antennas without the cm777, Imight be overloading. thanks

I doubt that your 7777 is overloaded. Is the FM trap engaged? The TV signals are weaker than the FM stations. The 8200U gets FM very well. The bars that you are seeing now may indicate that you are watching the analog stations and not the digital ones. If the black bar crawls up the screen, you may have a ground loop.

Also, make sure that your antennas are aimed properly.

I'd aim the 8200U at 90 degrees, the 91XG at 327 degrees and get a second 91XG for 161 degrees.

I'd add the two UHFs together with a Jointenna tuned to channel 46 and use your Channel Master 7777 preamp to add the VHFs to the UHFs.

It would receive 5 digital stations without a rotor.

The fm trap is engaged, I'll hook ,the tractor to it tomorrow, and ease it down, check it all out, maybe try it without the cm777. thanks a lot for the help.

I had a spare 91XG, and combined it with the other 91XG, with 3.5 feet of separation between all three antenna, joined at the base of the tower with the cm777, it has great reception, with no problems so far, I'm very pleased, but a rotor upgrade is in works for this fall, if it makes it that long, also with the rotor upgrade, I am thinking of ditching the 8200u, and adding a third 91XG combined in the same direction, if this is possible, and if so I would like to know your thoughts, or results thanks.

If you don't really need the 8200, it will certainly take a lot of windload off of the rotator. Is it possible to move the 7777 closer to the antennas? That should give you a bit more gain on your marginal stations.

when I had the cm777 on the mast with the antennas the reception was very bad, I have a pbs station blowing down my backside, which I could pick up signal from NNE to SSW, I believe it was muddying up the water. by the way what type rotor do you use thanks.

I'm just using the Channel Master 9521A. I've heard a lot of users having bad luck with them, but so far, so good. In 1 year of use, I have noticed that the unit loses accuracy in colder weather frequently.(Below 20 degrees) I'm sure you already know how critical the aim can be with the 91-XG.

With 3 antennas, you will probably need a beefier rotor.

Default Looking for right antenna or combination

Looking for some friendly advice.

zip 68365, with 40' tower & rotator, flat, no obstructions

I read Tigerbangs advice:
1 Channel Master 4228 UHF antenna
1 Wade-Delhi VIP-306 VHF antenna
1 Channel Master Titan 7777 preamp
1 Channel Master 9521a rotator
30'+ antenna height from the ground

but also see that some (TvTech, others) don't like, or have had bad luck with the 4228.

Solid Signal advised that I get the: Antennas Direct C4, even though I have 2 low vhf digital channels
VHF is 30-60 miles, UHF 25-100.

Want the range, while keeping windload and iceload under consideration. What are my options?

One thing for sure, Solid Signals advice is sooooooo wrong.

UHF at 100 miles will require the best UHF antenna, not a V/U combo. The best choice depends a bit on which UHF stations you want. The 91XG is the best choice for channel 20 and up. The Winegard HD-8800 has more gain below channel 20.

If you've got a ground loop. What does that mean and how do you fix? I think I might have one. Thanks, Baldini
