Howdy Tiger....zip is 28604 antenna is 15 ft off the ground. I have 4 stations within reach in TN and Va...large moutains between my home and charlotte so no go that way....I'm most curious about combining two antennas to increase thier signal gathering capacity just a personal theory....

Ganging antennas can work, but will take some fiddleing. Here are a couple of articles to get you started:
A 16-Bay UHF Antenna
A 32-Bay UHF Antenna

When I ran your zipcode, it all looked pretty hopeless, mostly due to the mountain ranges nearby...You may be in a location that is higher than the post office in your town, or on the side of a hill that may allow you reception where you are. If I had to go on the basis of your zipcode, I'd tell you to forget the whole thing!

yeah these mountains are pretty high over 6000' some of them. I sat one night and picked up Pittsburg PA on rabbit ears...I get NBC at 94% and CBS 95% from Virginia and TN ABC as I posted is in and out...72% down to 5%

Thanks Rbinck for the links, if I combine and have success I will post.

tigerbangs, I come to you for your limitless knowledge of OTA equipment. I live in Brick, New Jersey zip 08723. My house is a one story ranch. Currently have a Sony model KDL-46V25L1 full HD 1080P LCD. I subscribe to Comcast and want to cut that cord as soon as possible. Would the cm4228 antenna be the way to go. I believe I'm about 45 miles from NYC towers. Any info you could bestow on me would be great.

If you go with a 4228 or an AntennasDirect XG-91 and a good preamplifier like a Channel Master Titan 7777 you should be able to get the NYC stations if you can manage 30" of antenna height. Add a rotator, and you should also see the Philadelphia stations, too.

tigerbangs, I knew I could count on you guys to help me out , thanks. Just a point of clarification for me, when you say 30 feet of antenna height I assume you mean from the ground not the roof. A dumb newbe question I know......

tigerbangs,

Just wanted to give a quick update from Flanders, NJ. Just got a new Samsung HL-t5089s DLP and while some walls were open ran a RG-6 quad shield from my DB-8 straight to the TV. Re-scanned and still no WNBC-DT!! I need to order a new pre-amp but I was really hoping the new tuner would do the trick. All the other channels look great.

To quote Arnold Chase, owner of a 1330' transmitting tower in Farmington, CT: Height equals MIGHT: the higher the antenna, the stronger the signal. 30' above the ground is the minimum that I would use for your situation. Higher than that is never a bad idea...

tigerbangs,
I just bought a Magnavox 1080P LCD HDTV and looking for some information on what antenna configuration I should go with. My zipcode is 19518 and I can live with just getting all the VHF and UHF stations from Philadelphia pointing my antenna towards 134 degrees compass orientation.

Should I just go with a directional antenna that is good for both VHF and UHF or can I get more channels from other cities if I follow the prescription.

I am planning to connect two TVs, do you think I need to have a preamp and a rotator.

Thanks.

Antenna web results for my zipcode:

Is there anything else that stations from other markets offer you that you can't get from Philly? I would think that getting Lancaster or Allentown might be a small bonus, but maybe not worth the trouble? I would use a fringe all-channel antenna on the roof of your house, like a Channel Master Crossfire 3679 or a Winegard HD7084P or a Wade-Delhi VU-935SR and a good preamplifier like a Channel Master Titan 7777: you should have no issues with any of the Philly stations using 2 TV sets using one of those combinations. You can add a rotator if you want the other cities...

Default Pittsburgh problems

Hi,

Here is my info

I live near Pittsburgh PA, South of the city in a town called Perryoplis (15473).
I get most of the HD over the air channels with a roof top antenna and a rotator. Terk38 antenna
My problem is 2 of the channels (And of course they are the ones I want most)
on some days they have a very fluctuating signal and some days they are great. Channels 2.1 and 11.1
Seems the clearer the sky is the more they fluctuate.
They will range from 0% to 60 and fluctuate on bad days (clear) and on good days (Cloudy) they come in around 85% and stay constant.

The only place I have to mount the antenna is on my chimney so moving the antenna to
another loction really isn't an option.

I have a Terk TV38 antenna on a mast with rotor approx 30ft high
with a scientific atlanta single output pre amp on the mast.

I was thinking of combining two antennas but I have read that when combining two antennas there needs to be a certain distance between them. I will be putting one on top of the other. How much distance is needed and does this apply to receiving HD signals?

Also will it improve my signal having two antennas pointing the same direction?

Would the antenna you talk about work better for me and if so
Where can I find a Wade-Delhi VIP-306 VHF antenna?
I seached online and called a few local placs and nobody has them.
The Channel Master 4228 UHF antenna is available.

Any help is appreciated

Thank You
Doug

Two antennas, properly joined will give you maybe 3dB better signal. Try a better antenna and a better pre-amp.

Either CM4228 or Antennas Direct 91XG with CM7777 pre-amp.

Default Channel Master Crossfire 3679 or Winegard HD7084P

Hi,
Per antennaweb.org and tigerbang's suggestion I have decided to go with either Channel Master Crossfire 3679 or a Winegard HD7084P. Can anybody tell which one of these is a better antenna in terms of reception, compactness and durability.

Thanks.

Everybody keeps telling me to try these antennas (CM4228 or Antennas Direct 91XG) I have and the reception was horrible with both of them. The best reception I have got is with the Terk tv36 or the Terk tv38.

Is there a better antenna than the Terk tv38?
