Default My antenna works GOOD with no tower.

I have not gotten around to putting up a TV antenna tower at the new house the antenna works with no tower it receives 48 crystal clean channels leaning up against the house at a 10 degree angle. I think my tower will be only 10 feet tall. The stations are 37 miles away. It rained so hard yesterday I could barely see the house next door and reception was excellent on all channels. Over kill makes an excellent bad weather antenna.

WHAT happened to the photo?????
wizwor and Pete Higgins like this.

Thanks for the interesting photo, Gary. Good luck has followed you to your new house.

What is the aim direction for the antenna in the photo?

What does your tvfool report look like?

Gary,

Where did you find an all brick house in Arizona? My oldest son bought a new house in Gilbert last year.

Moved away for Arizona could not stand all the scams, illegal stuff none stop all the time it never stopped. Moved back to TN where honest people live. Wind kept blowing my antenna over so I mounted it to a 10 foot pole.

Default Arizona

Sorry to hear that.

I've been thinking of selling my properties and moving near Gilbert, AZ where my son lives. I’m a retired military officer and he is retired Law Enforcement.

Really disappointed in California! They seem to be rewarding all the wrong behaviors at the expense of the people who have done all the “correct” things. They think nothing of taxing people who do work to support welfare for people who don’t, supporting illegal immigrants even to the point of establishing sanctuary cities, promoting early release of criminals, gun laws aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, taxing smokers to the tune of an extra $20/carton -but legalizing marijuana and raising gas taxes. My wife just bought a new $78k Lincoln Continental and they are talking about raising the already high registration fees and excise taxes a lot more based on its value. Criminals and illegal immigrants have more rights in this state than law abiding citizens. Law enforcement hands are tied by all the liberal politicians. I expect they see this as consolidating a large voter base but at some point they are going to drive their tax base out of state. Like a lot of others, the large company, that I retired from has already moved their headquarters out of California.

FYI,

I now have a 22 GHz HP 8593E Spectrum Analyzer a friend gave me.

TVFool shows all my stations except channel 6, 38, 44, 10, 11, are all between 299 degrees and 326 degrees so i aim my antenna at center about 212.5 degrees the antenna picks up each side of center and I get all 22 channels plus all the side channels most have 2 to 5 channels like channel 5.1 to 5.3. If I rotate the antenna I get 5 more channels but that adds up to about 20 more channels. 6 has 6 stations 6.1 to 6.6. Channel 8 has 2 channels. 17 has 3 channels, 28 has 6 channels, 30 has 3, 40 has 7, 44h as 2, 50 has 5, 58 has 3, then 2 and 4 and 5 all have 3 each. I have never added up all the stations they might 80 of them. It sure beats cable TV I do not have to deal with 300 channels of advertisements. All the improvements sure do add up to a much stronger signal I can pick up all the channels in cookville TN that is 70 miles away. Nice thing about over kills no matter how bad the weather gets I never loose signal on any channels. When I replaced the wire bow ties with solid metal bow ties signal increased more that having an amplifier. With the amplifier removed solid bow ties gives me a better signal than the amplifier. The larger reflector screen increased the signal too. I changed all my hookup wires to #14 copper wire not sure if less wire resistance or less skin effect or both gives the stronger signal on all channels. I am thinking using flat copper strips 1/2" wide to replace the #14 wire will reduce skin effect more field strength meter should show a stronger signal but at this point I don't need a stronger signal.

I have nothing good to say about HOA neighborhoods and AZ thieves. The phone rings none stop 8 to 12 calls every day wanting to service my AC unit. I believe, if its not broken don't fix it. You let a service man in your yard he will let the Freon out of your AC unit so he can sell you more, he will lie to you tell you anything to charge you a $100 service call fee. I told AC people to STOP calling me but they just kept on calling so I started letting them come to the house THEN i told them, I have told you 30 times to stop calling me and you keep calling me anyway from now on I am going to waste your time like you waste my time you can drive to my house every time then I will tell you to get lost I am not interested and never will be. If take your vehicle to get it worked on they do damage to it so they can repair it and make more money. Often they just lie claiming you need more work than you really do. I had already put new brakes on the front of my own car did it myself the rear brakes were harder to do I needed special tools brake shop said repairs are $200 but the bill was $400. I complained manager said $200 per wheel not $200 total. Deception pisses me off he said $200 but did not specify any details you need to ask lots of questions to make sure you know what your getting.

Doctors are the worse thieves they charge you $100 up front just to see the doctor then after you see the doctor there is another fee of $150 to $350. Grocery stores have small clinics they have prices on the wall, sort throat, $95, Ear infection $125, high blood pressure $150, each problem you can have all have their own fee if you have 2 things wrong with you then you get charged 2 fees plus the $100 office fee your bill could be $500 to see the doctor 5 minutes.

95% of the neighborhoods are HOA Gestapo they tell you what you can not do in your own yard. I pull in/out of the driveway every day car tires make back marks on cement HOA sends me a notice, black tire marks need to be gone in 10 days. Broom would not remove all the black marks HOA wanted me to pressure wash the cement I refused they were going to take me to court so I did several experiments rather than to rent a pressure washer. Wire cup wheel on the hand grinder cleaned the tire marks off cement that saved me $150. Kids walking on the sidewalk kick rocks all over the side walk and city street so HOA notice every week wants me to sweep the street and sidewalks. If someone drives past the house throws out a bottle, can, paper, if HOA sees it before me I get a notice to pick it up. Every street has an HOA spy that reports to HOA. HOA sent me a notice the RV gate wooden boards need to be replaces they are dark from the sun so I took them off turned them around 180 degrees the back side looked better than the front HOA was happy. LOL. You can not own a van or truck taller than 7'. You have to keep trees and bushes trimmed perfect all the time to make HOA happy. You can not pull up all your bushes HOA has photos of all houses appearance must stay the same. HOA is a nightmare. I lived in west valley west of Phoenix town called Avondale. Gilbert might be better place to live.

If you have such problems with your HOA, you need to get more active and recruit other like minded owners to get your self elected to the HOA board, put up with the crap or move.

I MOVED away 2 years ago. Arizona has HOA companies that regulate 100s of different sub divisions. There is big $$$$$ to be made owning a company that regulates HOA neighborhoods. The neighborhood I was in charged $385 every 3 months = $1540 just from me. The area I lived in had about 340 houses = $523,600. just from those houses per year. The same HOA company regulated about 40 other neighborhoods assuming all the neighborhoods average out to about 340 houses each = $20,944,000. dollars per year. There are HOA meeting once a month home owners all invited to attend, I went to several meeting just to see what it was about. There are a lot of, self centered, snooty, Narcissistic personality disorder people living in HOA neighborhoods. Home owners stand up and complain the 5 panel group up front takes notes, a woman stood up and said, there is a candy wrapper in the street corner of Sheridan & N 123rd someone needs to pick it up. LOL. I just about busted out laughing. Some guy complained, birds are landing in my yard someone needs to keep the birds out of MY yard! LOL. There were several complaints about dogs barking the panel up front wanted the addresses. A woman complained about someones cat was climbing over the fence into her yard someone needs to do something. LOL. I started to stand up and complain, the Sun is too bright and too hot someone needs to do something, LOL, they probably won't think that is funny. LOL. I never heard such none sense in my life. LOL. Each street has a self appointed little Hitler that checks the street every day then reports to the HOA so they can send out letters to home owners to fix the problem. Little Hitler kept looking through the cracks in my fence gate so I wiped mud on the inside of my fence gate to plug up all the cracks every time little Hitler saw something he did not like I got a letter from HOA. That stopped little Hitler from looking. LOL. I had an arc welder in the garage that I was not suppose to have no power tools allowed, I also had a bench grinder, vise, band saw, drill press, belt sander, not allowed to have any of that. I hung a tarp from the garage ceiling between the work bench and my vehicle so when I open the garage door to leave and return it kept little Hitler and nosy neighbors from seeing my work bench and tools. LOL.

Gary not that it has a lot to do with an antenna, but it should be pointed out that there is the HOA which is every home owner in the neighborhood (including yourself) which has a board of directors who are also homeowners elected by the homeowners. Then there is a management company which the HOA board hires to enforce the deed restrictions. Some management companies are rather aggressive, especially if your HOA documents allow fining for violations. The more violation letters they send the more fees they are allowed to charge.

Most homeowners do not even read the covenant and restrictions they agree to by buying their homes, so then they are surprised when they get the letters.

Our HOA had a management company that was overbearing and we changed it due to homeowners complaints which were verified as overbearing. Had the homeowners not brought the issues to the HOA board of directors, it could have gone on much longer before the change.

Also, some HOA boards are aware of violation revenge where some neighbors use stupid reports against people they don't like or think they should not be in the neighborhood. Other HOA boards don't care that that is happening. All that can be done is to get legal assistance or get involved in the HOA to make changes. Or move, LOL.

If it sounds like I have had personal experiences, that's true. I got on my first HOA board over an antenna the management company wanted me to remove. Since then I've pointed out the 1996 law prohibiting their restrictions on every board I've served on before violations are sent out.

But I have heard that Arizona has some of the worse HOA management companies in the nation before.
