I can name at least one person on this forum who has matched his passion for OTA reception with the big bucks it takes to erect tall towers. And since this fellow is somewhat close, 40 miles or so, I have to admit he gets excellent results. And we also have to concede the Mark Twain point on the difference between men and boys is the expense of their toys. But as I say to everyone as a cheap skate, its your money and your choice.

But as our OP, as he gets bombarded with suggestions and starts to learn things, its all situational based on location, and we can't say much specific until you post that exact address TVFool report. And it is very possible that you can get the channels you want without spending a pile of bucks.

Here a tower means the difference between los and edge1 diffraction on several channels some of which are weak analog stations that will not come in with a 30' pole, but with the tower los is achieved and they come in perfect or near perfect depending on the weather....on the other hand a fellow just down the road and under the big flat topped hill I live on has a 68' tower and still has terrible reception of all the stations I get perfect, but he is down about 200' elevation from me so he doesn't even clear the hill top with that huge tower and he would state it was a complete waste of money because his reception is still crap....so like the others have stated an exact address report is the only way to find out just what kind of difference it will make for you....run the report at your current height and then at whatever tower height you want and see what improves....sometimes getting higher doesn't make enough difference to help at all...sometimes like with me it means the difference between no signal and 100% signal or no picture and clear picture with the weak analogs.
