Emptying Android trash

Does anyone know of a way to delete inbox trash on an Android Nexus without having to check every friggin email? I probably have hundreds in there but for now it looks like I'll have to check each one individually. There doesn't seem to be a way to pick all of the items in a folder at once. I read numerous forums and I guess it can't be done.

Open your Delete screen.
Bottom left hand corner of the phone there are 3 bars.
Touch them.
Up pops a screen where you can delete all or select all and then delete or trash

let me know if this works for you.

Ya I've tried all those. When you touch the 3 bars, it gives you Settings, then when you open that you get General and your email addy. General just gives you stuff like text size and reply.

Have you tried long pressing on the trash folder?

Yes nothing. I think I've tried every trick in the book, lol.

hmm...thats all i've got lol

you could login to your gmail account and empty the trash from there. :P

It's not a gmail account. I can go on my PC and access my mail and then all the stuff in my inbox on my Nexus is gone, but that still doesn't help me with all the stuff in my trash...oh well. Thx anyways.

Mine has a checkbox per each day. Makes it quicker, just click the day checkbox and press the trashcan, quicker than picking every email, but still kinda slow. Maybe you need to sort by date.

What I did do was delete the account then create it again (trash all gone). A couple of people suggested going with IMAP instead of POP3, I might have to try that.
