B&N didn't sit still long after the Fire hit shelves. They dropped the price of the Nook Color to $199. (Rooted and custom ROM'd, the Nook is still the cheapest way to get into a full blown android tablet) And they introduced the Nook Tablet at $249. From all I can see the Nook Tablet IS a Nook Color with a different shade of grey on it.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/07/b...-under-amazon/ My guess is, the tablet version has a slightly beefed up RAM (16GB vs 8GB I think) and a slightly tweaked OS overlay that allows more media friendly fun. However, if you root a Nook Color and install a custom ROM, you get all that anyway. SO to be honest, My advice would be to save the $50 and get a Color. best of both worlds really. Not sure if Fire has been rooted yet, but it would basically be the same thing as a rooted color, so that's a total toss up.
