I picked up 2 32GB ones for 149 and found out today that there is a number of Android programmers working on a flash for teh rom to switch the web OS out to an Android platform.

XDA-developers has a $2000 bounty out for the first person to get a stable port of android onto the HP touchpad. That's a pretty decent incentive to get there. I have little doubt it will happen.

I have very little doubt it will happen as well. If an HP dev can port webOS on an Ipad just for grins, this should be a dunk.. WebOS was a very good moble OS. Too bad its re-birth was so short lived..

Apparently the dev kit is the same as used by android and RIM for the playbook so I don't see it being too hard at all for them. They are apparently working on gingerbread currently as honeycomb isn't open source not till the next rendition called ice cream sandwich is release. Who the hell at Android comes up with these names.

Too funny oh well as long as it works and I have a feeling it will be within 4 weeks of all the developers recieving their touchpads that we see an android os for it.

Some great aps and tweaks for your touchpad @ www.precentral.net I have found a few goodied on there for our touchpads that speed them up a bit and increase the volume along with allowing multiple video and audio files to be played on your tablet. Best ones I have found are in the homebrew Apps category.

Necro-Bump from somone trying to get their post count up. This was back in August and they sold out like the morning they went on sale.
PS, There is already a CyanogenMod 9 with Android 4.0 ROM ready for the Touchpad. Supposed to be pretty much complete.

Thx, I was in such a rush when I noticed the price, I didn't even pay attention to the date. I'm looking for one for my daughter, been looking at the Sony now at 399. ?

If those two things aren't that important, there are other cheaper options that will give you essentially the same features (minus those 2) for anywhere from $50 to $100 less. BUT, that's not a knock on the Sony at all. At $399 it's a good tablet for a reasonable price. When it was $499, it was too much. The only other real dividing points between the tablets are the inputs and outputs. With the exception of the Asus Transformer Prime, they pretty much all have the same internals with varying memory levels. It's the USB ports and HDMI ports and SD card slots and stuff like that where it changes. The thinner lighter ones tend to have less built in connections and require some kind of aftermarket adapter to add usb ports etc.
