Default TX-SR507 vs HT-RC160 vs TX-SR607

I was wondering which one of these should one go for. The price difference between HT-RC160 and TX-SR607 is not much and both these are about $100 more than TX-SR507. I currently have 5.1 Bose® Acoustimass® 10 Series IV Speaker System and was going to purchase TX-SR507 but would not mind spending $100 extra for HT-RC160 or TX-SR607. Any suggestions?

I have had the TX-SR606 for over 6 months now and I feel that is a great product, but I was able to get mine new off Amazon for $319 before Christmas. The 607 does everything the 606 does and has a 5th HDMI in port with the 1 HDMI out port. If you want a receiver that can do it all (decodes DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD) and has a good build quality I would go with the 607.

Thanks. How does HT-RC160 compares to TX-SR607. Both are about the same price but HT-RC160 belongs to a different series.

The only difference I can see is that the 607 has a port for Sirius satellite radio while the 160 does not. It is really up to you.

I would recommend the 607. The other model has a few less options and was made for a HTiB system whereas the TX-SR607 is a standalone surround sound receiver.

Default Just to make your decision a little harder

RC160 is on sale for $399 at Newegg right now with free shipping.

The SR607 does give you 10W more per channel, Sat radio readiness and a front HDMI port. Is that worth $100?

That's the only question left to answer.

There are other technical differences as well.

I would go for the 607 if i was looking to buy a reciever in this price range! Onkyo has really upped the ante in this model compared to the 606.

I wonder if the Zone 2 of 607 is as limited as the AVR that comes with the 6100 (only plays analog sources). I am guessing that since the 607 has a true Zone 2 instead of B speakers that it will output all sources via Zone 2.

Talking ABC Warehouse

Went down to my local ABC Warehouse to see what they had and they gave me a nice deal! Picked up the TX-SR607 for $420. If I bought some TSi300s at the retail price of $199 each, they would have given me the TX-SR607 for $365.

Then on Newegg, I got some Monitor 70s for $199 each, originally $400 each, plus free shipping. Those things weigh 47lbs each. I also picked up a 12" Polk Audio sub for $250, oringinally $400.

Shipping for that order would have been about $200. There are some crazy good deals out there.
