Default 5 in 1 DVR for DirecTV?

Is there a DVR for DirecTV that can record more than 2 shows at once? I saw on TV that AT&T U-verse has one that lets you record 4 shows at once and let you watch a 5th. U-Verse isn't here yet though

Can I get one of those for DirecTV?

It's all about the number of tuners. HD receivers have 1 tuner, while most HD DVR receivers have 2 tuners. AFAIK DirecTV does not have any HD DVRs that contain more than 2 tuners.

Yes, with Uverse you can record 4 shows at once, however, only 1 of them can be HD. The other 3 have to be in SD. I'm not knocking Uverse because I think recording 4 channels at once is still pretty cool. But with this being an HD forum, I just wanted to specify that.

I guess they "forgot" to mention that part. I can record 2 HD shows at once with my DirecTV HR22. Any chance of DirecTV ever releasing a DVR that lets you record more than 2 shows at once AND watch another simultaneously?

I guess most people are pretty happy with being able to record 2 shows at once and being able to watch a recorded show at the same time. You can get as many HD DVRs as you want. A guy I used to work with had 2 COMCAST dual tuner HD DVRs in his house. On some nights he had 4 different shows recording at the same time.
