Default Pioneer VSX-818V-K or Yamaha RXV463

Hi forum,

I am in the process of choosing a receiver which is not too expensive and provides with basic features so that I can connect my DVD/CableTV/Camcorder to it and view those things on TV.

I was looking at Yamaha HTR-6130B($230) but it has pass-through HDMI, so I started looking at the HTR-6140B($348)/RXV463B($300 - store special). The 6140B/463B seem to have almost everything I need and a bit more. What is the experience of the owners for these receivers? Is there anything which might suggest staying away from this model?

I was also looking at the weekly flyer and they had the Pioneer VSX-818V-K($300) and Pioneer VSX-918V($300). How good are these as compared to the Yamahas above?

Thanks in advance from this novice who is just venturing out in securing a receiver for his very basic home theater.

PS: prices in CAD

I am not sure about the Yamaha 463, but I just got the 663 at BBye for $400. I highly recommend this unit/Yamaha in general. Look on Amazon for each receiver and customer feed back...
It is a serious piece of equipment and music with little distortion (0.06% THD) was important to me vs. multiple HDMI inputs that I wont ever use (just need/will only ever need 2...one for Satelite in, DVD or Blue Ray...eventually) and one output to my TV with sound handled by the reciever, thus no optical cable needed back from the TV to Receiver. The Wii can get use composite and who really cares...its for the kids.
This unit sounds fantabulous and I haven't sat down for the 4 hours required to figure it all out...basic hook up and auto cal, minor sub adjusting and I was good to go...
Yamaha makes very good sounding, long lasting audio equipment.
Plus I got a great deal since it was an "open box." However, the guy couldn't locate the remote and I had told him I was in a hurry to get my daughter from practice, so he gave me an unopened one at the price negotiated down to for the opened one!
