I recently recieved the Western Digital 500g DVD Expander and have attached it to my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD. The install seems to have gone OK, but now whenever I try to watch recorded content (recorded since I attached the Expander) every minute or so I get freeze frame, audio loss, pixelation for a second or so, then it works normal again. Generally, if I rewind and watch that part again all that stuff goes away, but just happens at a different point in time. This makes watching recorded stuff pretty painful. I also notice that at times full shows are no longer being recorded, only the first few minutes.
I got in touch with WD and they sent me a new drive but I'm having the same problems. Has anyone encountered this before with this pairing? If so, is there any kind of resolution you know of? Thanks much for reading this and for any help you could offer. |

I have the same problem, is there anyone out there that knows how to fix this problem? I am using HDMI cable, some one in another thread said that could be the problem. Isn't it an HDMI cable box??? Please help thanks.

I have same problem... really getting annoying. Seems like the dropped pixels/sound happens right when something important is being said.
I found in most cases, if I hit the rewind and replay the scene, it plays find which indicates it is not in the recording. I use HDMI from DVR to TV. I tried changing ESATA II cable but that didn't help. My next step will be to try changing from HDMI to Component. Hopefully, someone will post their solution here... I love the extra recording space - but the skipping is getting pretty frustrating. Using on Scientific Atlanta HD DVR (Time Warner). I may try new DVR - but hate losing all that I've recorded to do so. |
