Sony STR-DG920 receiver vs Onkyo 606
i've been kind of receiver shopping for a while now and A lot of people recommended the Onkyo 606 but I was reading a cnet artical the other week that listed this sony as being potentially better the the Onkyo receiver.
would you guys get this Sony over the Onkyo (and yes I know the Sony is more $$$) I just want a receiver that will go good with my Blu Ray player and decode/play all the new sound types out and something that will upconvert a 480p image and make it look decent (I heard the Onkyo does a bad job at this) thanks |

Sony is NOT known for good receivers. Almost any other brand will be better, less troublesome and an overall better bargain.

How can anyone watch standard def?

As an owner of the Onkyo 606, I would say it is quite good for the money. It decodes all you will need for the HD DVD/Blu Ray camp and more. Also, the upconversion to 1080i works for a number of input formats, not just HDMI!! I have been extremely happy and recommend it. Look at the August issue of Home Theater for a quality review.

but does anyone have theirs hooked up to a Nintendo Wii, cause I heard from a website that it does a bad job upconverting
