Angry How to Retreive Video from Motorola DCH 3416

I have shut of my Comcast tv service, and about to return my stb (Motorola DCH-3416)tomorrow. Is there any way to retrieve the video files stored on the DVR hddrive? I noticed there are several connections for out, I think. USB, SATA, and IEE 1394, and cat5. Will any of these outputs let you retreive the files on the DVR? If so, how do I go about it?

Yes. You can move them to D-VHS via the fire wire port and have then in HD. Or you can copy them (in SD) to a DVD recorder or other video recorder via one of the other outputs. You can network the STB to your media center PC and move the files. Because very, very few people have a D-VHS recorder-- none of these is an easy or simple option. Just plan on catching the reruns . . .

I have component output cables and USB. I can buy a firewire cable. What then? What about the menus on the stb? Are they active even though the stb is not hooked up to Comcast cable? Inform. Thanks.

You do not need to be connected to the cable service to PLAY are recorded program.

What type recording device are you going to use? Keep in mind, you will NOT be able copy any HD recordings-- you can MOVE them to another format like D-VHS via fire wire. The fire wire output is active while you are playing your selection; as content is recorded on tape, it will be deleted from the hard drive in the Moto DVR.

You can't recover the videos from above suggestions. However, this guide (recover deleted videos from moto x) should help you out. I already used it to recover several photos from my Motorola device.
