How can anyone watch standard def?

I have an Onkyo A/V Reciever (mod. no. HT-R550) and a Westy 37" LCD Monitor (mod. no. LVM-37w3).
I know there is a large price range of wireless headphones on the market, but let's set that aside for now. What type of accessories, converter box, cables, etc. would I need to connect the above to watch TV or DVD with wireless headphones, so as to not keep the kids awake upstairs, while we use our HT system downstairs? Thanks for your replies. |

C 'mon guys. I'd be surprised if none of you had an opinion. If my request is "pie-in-the-sky"' please tell me. If it's laughable, tell me that. If it's a hare-brained idea, tell me I've had a brain cramp. If I'm ahead of my time, tell me that, too.
But I'll bet that a few of you know if and/or how it would work. |

My wife uses wireless headphone when using the treadmill in the basement-- so she does not have to turn the TV sound level up so high. You just need a headphone jack on the TV (or the reciever). She just plugged the wireless headphone base unit into the TV -- and that was it.

Thanks for the info on your system, Rick, but I'm thinking about a larger scale that I neglected to state earlier.
This my situation: Our house is a "chalet" style which means it has a cathedral ceiling throughout. When the grandkids are over their sleeping quarters are in a 2nd level "loft" that is open to the Liv. rm/Din. rm below on the 1st level. So whatever is on our TV or HT is heard throughout the house. What I was thinking about was, while the younger kids are trying to get to sleep in the loft, some older kids and adults may want to watch TV or a DVD down on the main level. For the sake of the younger kids the HT speakers should be turned off. So I was thinking of a system to plug in 4 to 8 sets of headphones, or send a wireless signal to 4 to 8 sets of headphones, so the speakers could be turned off completely. That is why I was asking if any type of accessories, software, converter boxes , networking or cables would be necessary to connect the headphones and bypass the speakers to the Reciever. My Onkyo Reciever does have a speaker A, B, A+B switch. Thanks, again, for the info that I know is out there somewhere. CarlDV Last edited by CarlDV; 06-28-2008 at 02:40 PM.
