OTA DVR Without an subscription?
Hi everyone. I currently have a comcast hd-dvr, but I realize that I watch mostly shows that are on the free OTA networks.
Are there any good non-subscription based HD-DVR's out there? I realize without a subscription I won't get any kind of updated "guide," but I would be happy with just recording by date and channel just like in the old days with a VCR. Thanks in advance for any help! |

Yes, there are many; for example there's the Philips DVDR3575.
Do a search on BB, CC or similar sites and you'll certainly find something to your liking. They run about $300 and up. |

Echostar is soon to have their TR-50 stand alone dual tuner OTA DVR. It even has a program guide and no subscription is needed.

Thanks for the quick responses! It seems most places only want to sell dvr's that come with mandatory subscriptions.
