Yamaha RXV 3800 PROBLEMS !!

If the menu system has the setting as follows Pg 98 of the PDF Manual



RX-V3800 Plays back HDMI audio signals on this unit. The

HDMI audio signals input at the HDMI input

jacks of this unit are not output to the HDMI

component connected to the HDMI OUT jack

on the rear panel of this unit.





Other Plays back HDMI audio signals on another

HDMI component connected to the HDMI OUT



When you select OTHER you are able to switch the tv, amp , blu ray player on and off without any prolems but when you are playing a movie with a DTS HD MASTER AUDIO or TRUE HD it does not show on the reciever and when you choose a sound track of “ uncompressed 5.1 48kh/24 bit “ it only displays and produces stereo !!!

When you access the GUI and enable the RXV3800 setting you get True HD and DTS Master on the reciever and you are able to play uncompressed sound through 5.1 channels which is GREAT !! ,,, then you can switch the tv off and back on without any problems ,, but as soon as you switch the reciever off and then on it will have sound but no display on the tv( loewe individual compose ), the only way to fix the problem is to go to “ svideo monitor mode “ and switch the reciever to OTHER and then you get display,,, but as said above in other mode you don’t get all the sound features which is pointless !


any ideas ??

Forum Newbie.

Problem with Yamaha RXV 3800 A/V tuner:

I can’t get proper 5.1 Surround Sound decoding from cable box to speakers.

All speakers produce sound but the right rear channel overrides the left rear channel with all vocals for movies. I’ve spent most of 2 days getting all systems properly connected with correct A/V settings. System has stunning HiDef (1080i) video from cable box, good stereo sound with 2 ch or 7 ch settings (love the 7 ch Music Enhanced setting). (though still tweaking).

I can’t get proper surround sound in any other A/V sound setting.

Help please!!!
