Question Comcast Motorola HD DVR Box, 34 or 64 series?

Hello,

I just got a Sony 46s2010 HDTV and will be exchanging my current Comcast HD Capable Dual DVR box with DVI connection for one with a HDMI connection. I was planning on getting the 6412 phase III model. Is this a good choice? Any issues with this model? Are there any pro and cons for the 64 series vs. the 34 series? Thanks for any help.

Just got a Sony 46s2010 HDTV. Will be using HDMI connection and a 3x1 HDMI switch box from monoPrice.com. TV will be used with Comcast Dual DVR/HD Capable box. I will be sitting about 9 feet in front of the HDTV. I plan to keep my 32 inch SDTV to watch analog channels. I watch a lot of sports!

Comcast uses the 64 series in the areas that they are still sending out analog channels. They use the 34 series in areas that are all digital. I have only had the 64 series and am happy with it. So you may not have a choice.

If you have a choice, the 34xx is a better choice. Better to be sure you're getting everything digital if you can.

He won't have a choice though. If his area is mixed analog/digital he will get the 64xx. If it's all digital he will get the 34xx.

That's not the case. I'm in an area with ADS, yet still had the 6412 for a while before swapping it out for the 3412.
