What is HD?

I recently purchased a new Panasonic Viera TH42PX500U television. At that time I also installed a High Def Rogers Cable box with Personal Video Recorder. Where I am located in Canada there are approx 15 HD channels. I connected the HD Cable box to the TV using a Monster HDMI 400 cable. I noticed immediately on 4 or 5 HD channels a flickering line across the top of the tv screen. This flickering line is about 1/8 of an inch and very annoying. Most of the programming on these channels are 720p 4:3. I began troubleshooting the issue and notice that the problem only occurs on one channel if I switch to Component Video cables (Monster Ultra 1000).
I called the cable company 'Rogers' and informed them of the problem. A technician arrived and switched the cable box but that did not fix the problem. He switched the Coax cable but that did not fix the problem. He spent some time on the phone to his tech lab but in the end he was not able to find a fix. He said the lines are Retrace Lines and should not be visable, they should be higher up out of view. I then went back to the store where I bought the TV and explained the situation. The agreed to replace the tv. The new tv arrived a few days ago and I still have the same problem. I then tried a different HDMI cable but the problem persists. I appreciate any help. Thanks. |

Thanks for the reply. I have only noticed the problem using the cable box. DVD, PS2, XBOX 360 are all fine however I do not have HDMI outputs on any of those. I have the tv connected to a Monster 2100 powercenter. I tried plugging the tv and cable box into a wall plug and the problem was the same.
