Default Hard drive DVR w/HDMI??

I am looking for a DVR with a hard drive and HDMI output. The Sony RDR HX715 (about $525) and the Toshiba RD XS 52 ($470 for 160GB) or RD XS 54 ($525 for 250GB) seem like the primary choices. Any hands-on experience with either? Head-to-head comparisons of these two? I considered the Dish 942 but don't want to be tied to Dish forever.

I have the Toshiba RDKX50 which has the 80GB drive and love it. Recording is great. Editing is great. Only problem I have is that my toshiba set can not control it.

Those are very different than the 942, which has an ATSC digital tuner as well as the Sat tuner. Those are just for SDTV, analog NTSC tuner & inputs.

I pay $10 mo for Moto 6412 from Comcast. No install fee - no contract. I wouldn't think of paying $500 for box thet will likely be obsolete - or at least superceded - in a few years.
