Ok this is the most confusing thing I've ever tryed to get done.
tv connected to 520 with hdmi dish box connected to sat/cabl input with hdmi- works good dvr-vcr connected to video input with hdmi - plays recorded dvds good problem is I can not get a signal in to record. Instructions for 520 says i must connect an av cable to out of 520 to input of dvr which I did still no input to record I must not be getting an out put signal to the dvr . Setting some where? Reciever or dvr ? or both Thanks for reading Tim HDMI and digital challenged |

You may want to try a different video input, like other than HDMI that may not be sending a signal back.

Thanks quad 4.0 I'll try that. Worked fine on my old 93 rca reciever . hooked dish to dvr with av cables then to tv with av cables. HDMi is a fickle thing. or smarter then me later tim

yes, HDMI is fickle. Often the HDCP (embedded protection) prevents a useable signal to be output. Go analog.
