Default Panasonic DVD Recorder makes strange sounds?

Hi,

My Panasonic DMR-ES30V dvd recorder/vcr makes these funny squeaky sounds and it sounds kind of like a seal.

This happens a lot.

is there something wrong internally in the machine or does it need cleaning or is a gear out of place?

I bought it in April from Circuit City so it is not that old.

the recorder usually works fine except last night where it started making noise and the recording process stopped and there was an error in the recording.

The recording error has happened twice in the 50 or 60 times I have used the machine.

Have you updated the firmware?

Never mind, its not available for your model. A shame really. No one knows what the firmware upgrade is, but its recommended by everyone. I myself upgraded and can now record on higher speed discs .
