How can anyone watch standard def?

viewing ipod photos with Pioneer VXS-94txh
I have a Pioneer VSX-94txh with IDK-80 ipod dock. I'm trying to view photos that are on my ipod touch using the dock, through the receiver to my HDTV. I have tried composite, s-video, and HDMI out from the receiver and still cannon get an image on the TV.
