Cool Syfy in 2009

Merlin on NBC HD
Warehouse 13 on SyFy HD
Eureka SyFy HD
Torchwood Season 3 on BBC America HD
TrueBlood HBO - HD

Stargate Universe aimed for October Friday 2nd 9pm 2009 slot on SyFy HD

I sit and watch most of what's been released so far.. Merlin very boring but what else is there to watch. True-blood seems short, wish it was longer but some shows drag and some not. Warehouse 13 still up in the air with that program. Eureka something about that town, they need some aliens from another planet to buzz around. Torch-wood from UK well might be something to see.

SGU still be pushed out till the end of 2009 at the rate they're going. Since NBC runs SyFy channel.

I had watched the Torch-wood 1, 2, an 3. I found the Children of the Earth Day1, Day2, Day3, Day 4, and Day 5 to be the worst crap they ever did for that spin off series from Doctor Who. DW is 100% better.

You misspelled "sci fi" aka "science fiction" with emphasis on the word science. I don't know what "syfy" is - slang for syphylis perhaps? ;-)

- Torchwood's first two years were good.
- You might want to add Sarah Jane Adventures to your watchlist. See Syfy's schedule bot.
- Eureka doesn't need aliens. Asimov's Robot/Empire/Foundation novels didn't have a single alien in sight, and they were some of the best science stories ever written. Eureka should keep the focus on humans (imho).
- There are better things to watch than Merlin - like the NBC miniseries of the same name available on DVD. Or Outer Limits on the "this" X-2 subchannels. Or Twilight Zone reruns on MyNetTV. Or "the munsters" on DVD. Or "Buck Rogers" on DVD. Or..... well you get the idea. :-)

The SciFi channel just renamed themselves to SyFy...

That's what it's called here now SyFy not Sci-Fi Channel..

I've seen Sarah Jane was okay not all.. But Eureka going to have an alien visit. Too much hints already about it..
Lost In Space in the 60's
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea in the 60's
Land of the Giants in the 60's
Time Travel in the 60's
Six Million Dollar Man in the 70's
Space 1999 in the 70's
UFO 1980 in the 70's
Star Trek Voyager
These were some great shows.. Beside the norm one like SG1, SG-Atlantis, Doctor Who..

My wife and I saw the pilot of Caprica a few months ago. It was super, and we're really looking forward to the series. We are really enjoying Warehouse 13, and of course Eureka is as good as ever.

Stargate Universe was always planned for Fall 2009, as far as I know. I suspect some fans were hoping, very hard, for it to premiere earlier, but the network never published anything that said it would surely be presented earlier. It's pretty bold, actually, to premiere a new show on a cable channel up against new programming premiering on broadcast channels. I hope that's not a mistake. I haven't seen the pilot for SGU, but from what I've read, I'm thinking we'll like it as much as Stargate Atlantis (in other words: me, not so much; and my wife, quite a lot).

@tipstir: I have to say that your list contains some winners (Time Tunnel, Space 1999) and some real stinkers (Lost In Space, Six Million Dollar Man, Star Trek Voyager) from my personal, current perspective. That's not to say that your list is definitively accurate or not -- but rather makes it clear that such things are a matter of personal opinion, and for entertainment offerings, what is "good" versus "bad" will never be relevant beyond the bounds of the person who is expressing the opinion. What we can say, generally, is what is liked by many versus what is liked by few.

While it’s definitely still early, given the results with Warehouse 13 it would be hard to argue that the rebranding isn’t working out exactly according to the script.

Also notable is how Warehouse 13 is attracting almost as many women as men.

New York, NY – October 13, 2009 – It was quite a week for Syfy. Propelled by Sanctuary, Stargate Universe and the Original Movie Megafault, Syfy was the #3 cable entertainment network in Adults 25-54, behind only USA and TBS, for the week ending October 11.
#3 cable entertainment network in a prime demographic... I cannot see how anyone can continue to consider their efforts over the last few years to be anything other than a massive success.
