Video Quality Changes at end of CBS Shows

I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining this. Toward the end of 10:00 pm CBS shows - around 10:57 or so - it seems like the video quality changes from HD to SD. Right in the middle of a scene. It seems like this happens more on Thursday nites, but it might be that's the only night we watch CBS in that time slot.

Does anyone know what this is? Is it related somehow to the switch to local programming (the local 11:00 news)?

Or maybe I'm hallucinating......
