I just moved to a new residence, and I am not sure which route to go. I have had DirecTV for years and have been mostly happy with it. I had Comcast for a while and hated it.
I have no experience with Dish Network but have read good things so far online. My two TVs are the Panasonic G10 42" and the Panasonic VT25 54" (just ordered it) What provider would give me the best bang for my HD buck?? FYI: Verizon Fios is not available at my new place unfortunately.....I'm in the Chicagoland area Last edited by sandcracker21; 02-08-2011 at 05:09 AM. |

Depends on what you want. I've had Dish for 2 1/2 years and D* for 2 prior to that and have had ConCrap in the past.
I just cancelled my Dish sub but not just because of Dish itself. I had very good luck with equipment and reception, just got tired of having to pay for a lot that I really didn't watch. I'm a sports fan and Dish is the worst choice for that. Comcast actually has the channels that I want for sports in their standard packages, one in particular that neither D* nor E* has. That said, Comcast and D* are best for sports, especially D* if you want the add-on packages. Dish is best for service (in comparison to the others) and has by far the best DVRs. Dish has more HD channels (of the national channels) than either of the others. Although all have problems with service, I've found that Dish does try harder and generally is a lot friendlier and easier to deal with. Comcast has terrible service generally and rude employees. D* I just don't trust. As far as price, they are all overpriced IMHO. In that regard, it again depends on what you want and what you are willing to pay. Only advantage of cable is no contract. One thing with any of them is not being afraid to negotiate. I think they may be getting smarter about retaining customers at reduced prices than losing them. My generation and those older didn't like to change much and were always cash cows for these companies and phone companies. Not the same ballgame now and they need to wake up. |
