Default div vs hdmi

Hello! I have purchased a new dell 20" monitor which has a DIV port.

Can I use the same port for HDMI cable.
Waht is the difference bw HDMI and DIV.

i'm assuming you are talking about DVI.

DVI is HDMI without sound.

yes you just need a dvi to hdmi adapter or cable you will need a separate cable for audio

The biggest difference is that DVI is more stable and doesn't have HDCP issues. If you're talking monitors and not concerned with TV or BD, DVI is the best way to go.
