At the present time, your original statement is completely accurate. My point was that might change, but don't hold your breath while you wait.

I don't think it will. There is no advantage for stations going from 1080i to either progressive format that I can see. Not enough HDTVs that support 1080p/24 and 1080p/30 is really no different than 1080i on most HDTVs and no difference in bandwidth. Although any ATSC tuner should provide support for 1080p/24 and convert it to 1080i if necessary, I'm not sure how many really do. Sports would suffer if the went to 1080p/24 across the board.

You are correct about the 50Hz. Nice catch and thanks for the correction.

I don't understand why you are saying that I'm nitpicking about 59.94Fps. You said that 720 can be broadcasted at 30Fps and I was saying that the VTR's playback at 59.94 or if you want you can call it 60 but no 30Fps.

Why do you say no VTRs support 30 fps? Surely there must be some out there which do... what about NTSC converted to digital? That's 30 frames per second. PAL-to-DTV would be 25 frames per second.

You mean Obama's stimulus bill hasn't hooked you up? ;-) I think the fastest, easiest solution Congress could do is mandate phone companies *must* provide DSL to anybody who asks. My connection is only 750k but it's sufficient to watch nbc.com, fox.com, hulu.com, et cetera. When over-the-air television lets me down, the net provides instant access to any show I desire.

Also it sounds like you don't have a good selection of subchannels (This, RetroTV, Global, et cetera). Perhaps it's time to start calling station managers and asking for specific networks.

I was talking about the pro side of 720 not NTSC and none of the pro machines that I know of support 30 frame 720. Also we have been running digital for over 20 years now, it's just the signal getting to the homes that have switched to digital.
