I'm willing to try both Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio, but not for $5500. The Bluray player I bought for $130 didn't come with either, but that's okay. I'll survive.

I thought you said you dumped that Maganvox player. Did you change your mind?

Maybe somebody here will buy one and let us know how it performs.

It looks great but damn it ain't cheap. With it being from Denon you would expect it to be a excellent player. I don't know whether it will be that good that it would be worth 10 times as much as other machines though!

No. Just haven't sold it yet. I want S-video output like my HD DVD had.

You want S-Video for 480i standard definition playback?

Uh... yes. What's so strange about that?

S-video provides about twice as many "pixels" onscreen as composite video.

It's just too bad the prices are way too high. I personally love SACD and DVD-A. For me - these two formats were the pinnacle of surround sound for music. I embraced them totally, spent money, etc. Now, a couple receivers and DVD players later. I've shelved it. Such a bummer.

Does anyone here think that in years to come, basic music will come in a dual format (2 channel for all the masses who don't care and multi channel FOR ME!!!) ?? This would be off subject from OP, but...

Of course that is exactly what SACD, DualDisc and DVD-Audio often offered. The problem was that the market wasn't willing to pay a premium. Since it required two royalties to the artists be paid and a market that usually only wanted one or the other, it was a big failure. I don't think it will work with Blu-ray either for exactly the same reasons but we should see some music releases and the market that wants to purchase them will have to pay a premium. How well the music sells will determine how many releases are seen.

Yeah I know Chris....I didn't word that properly. I mean to say, do you think in the future there will be "another" multi channel format that is just part of the system. Let's just say that all music will be delivered via some sort of download. At that time, you can choose whether you prefer 2 channel or multi channel. Maybe that's what I mean. In other words - does anyone think there is ANOTHER multi channel format for music coming down the pipe that will stick? (edit - well, yes, maybe blu-ray would be the answer for me.? I have yet to hear true HD or DTS master.....so maybe they are that good??)

Yes, lossless PCM, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD MA are all excellent and could easily make us forget about the previous high resolution surround formats. I have redundancy in hardware for my DVD-A/SACD collection so I will keep on playing what I have but if we see no further releases for either and all music companies get behind Blu-ray, we will be better off.

Well - I bought blu-ray player a month ago or so. Just did upgrade my receiver to decode all that, but haven't hooked it up yet. I cannot wait to hear the new audio formats on blu music discs. I have the new Rush Snakes and Arrows disc coming, so that should give me an indication how good the format sounds.

I don't have that one, it has gotten mostly good reviews but the recent Police Blu-ray is the one I see rave reviews on. I was going to pass on the Police concert but have changed my mind and will try to find a deal on it.

I picked up several Rush DVD-V's with the "R30" and "ReplayX3" sets and will just make that be enough Rush for me.

Yep - I already have all the Rush DVD's They are really good for the most part. I'm a big Rush fan, so I guess I'm gonna give the new blu release a go. By the way - got my receiver hooked up this afternoon and all. Put in Iron Man and really it is just phenominal. The clarity is over the top. I'll take it.
