Default HDCP required For Xbox 360 Netflix HD streaming

The new HD Netflix streaming service on the Xbox 360 requires an HDCP compatible display device. If you try play a movie while not connected to an HDCP compatible display, you will get the “Secure HDCP Link Not Found” error.

So millions of 360 owners who got it before HDMI was available are not going to be able to use the service?

I would be willing to guess that they could use the service but the video would be downrezed to 480 as with most HDCP content.

No, according to the latest update of the article Engadget stated that 1080i over component is just working fine.
