Default High Def Forum Change of Ownership

High Def Forum Members,

I am very pleased to announce that the High Def Forum has been acquired by Internet Brands, Inc., which operates leading consumer and enthusiast websites including CarsDirect.com, FlyerTalk.com, and Wikitravel.org.

The plan is to maintain the High Def Forum as a stand-alone site, while leveraging Internet Brands’ technology resources where they can enhance the site. There are no changes planned for HDF at this point, other than moving to bigger, faster servers. I will continue to play an active role in the community and in the growth of the site.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email them to me. There is also an FAQ about the acquisition below that should answer many of your questions. We’re excited about the upgrades the acquisition will bring, and hope you are too!

Thank you
Cass

Default Hello from Internet Brands

On behalf of Internet Brands, I just wanted to thank Cass for all his hard work on High Def Forum. It’s a great site and we're proud to welcome it to the Travel and Leisure group here at IB.

Thanks, too, to the users who have built such a dynamic, active community.

We’re committed to keeping High Def Forum the same great site it’s always been while leveraging some of our strengths – new servers and broad experience in site administration – to keep it growing.

I’ve listed some FAQs concerning the acquisition below.

Please consider me a contact to Internet Brands.
Glad to be here!
Justine

FAQ’s

Q: Why did Internet Brands buy High Def Forum?
A: Internet Brands’ mission is to help consumers plan important purchases and discuss areas of interest to them. High Def Forum’s users offer outstanding advice and support for people involved with high def products and equipment.

Q: Will High Def Forum become part of another Internet Brand site?
A: No, Internet Brands plans to keep it a separate, thriving site operating as it does today.

Q: What changes can we expect to see on High Def Forum?
A: For the most part, the site will remain essentially unchanged. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The main change in the coming months will be that Internet Brands migrating the site to more powerful computers. Beyond that, Internet Brands plans to brainstorm with the moderators of High Def Forum about improvements that would make the site even better.

Q: Will my log-in or password change?
A: No you will still access High Def Forum as you always have.

Justine:

Let me also welcome both you and your corporation to HDF . . .

We members of HDF look forward to any improvements that you deem necessary to make HDF bigger and better than it already is. That has always been our goal.

Cass:

Thank you for taking us this far. HDF is the BEST HD forum website on the internet and we have always appreciated your work and effort to make it so.

So does this mean you will once again do some posting? Get involved in some threads?

Best regards,

Lee Stewart

Exciting news!

Glad to see Cass is not going anywhere...

Is the same level of moderation going to continue? I currently enjoy the amount of freedom we have here compared to other sites (AVS, HDM) and would't want anything to change.

I have lurked around here for years it seems. Finally 6 months ago I registered and tried to add my thoughts, and opinions here. I truly respect all who take the time to post their thoughts, and opinions here at Hi-Def Forum, and I hope that things will only get better with the new changes coming.

Thanks guys for the support and feedback!

I eventually plan to transition my administrative duties and especially all of the technical duties off to Internet Brands. Internet Brands is the company behind the forum software so they are definitely up to maintaining and enhancing the site.

Lately, I have not been able to spend as much time as I would have liked addressing feedback concerns, new logos etc. So hopefully we are all benefited by this transition and yes Lee, it would be nice to get into some discussions...

I am looking forward to the future of the HDF and hope it continues to be an awesome community and resource well into the future!

I just noticed that Internet Brands also just acquired High Def Digest. Does this mean that you'll finally let us link to that site now?

. . . can we fix the SAVE action? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't . . . or is that only my problem?

I just wanted to say thank you Cass for building such a great site and community here. This is truly the best site I have even been to and I have been to quite a few over the years. This place has almost become an addiction for many because of the freedom you have provided us with this site.

It will be great if you can start joining in on the discussions as you are able to get away from much of the administrative/management duties that have kept you from enjoying the very site you have made so great.

I look forward to hearing about the improvements that might become possible with this news and the larger resources of the new owners.

Thanks again for all the hard work and vision you have used to make this the best forum site on the internet.
