Default Circuit City & extended service contracts

Just talked to one of my bigger dealers that had been servicing CC, and they were cut off. Also a major service agency in Birmingham that runs trucks into the smaller towns was cut off by CC also. Pretty sure this is on extended warranties. Extended service has always been the way the salesman makes his best commission.
This makes no real sense. Has anyone got wind of anything like this happening in other areas?
Service in my area is a premium thing, and for them to do away with viable service agents for any part of service may be signaling something deeper.

Its been, literally, years since these "salesman" have made ANY commission. Try $8.00 an hour, no commission.

Just got back by to check for comments.

That is so sad - if accurate. It is no wonder when you go there - or any of the box stores - for that matter - that they know virtually NOTHING about what they are selling.
Amazing to where we have come from and to.

Last thing that I heard was...If you do not purchase the "Extended Warranty" from Circuit City. You have to take your defective product to the manufacture for you issues. They will not fix it nor take it back. This is why I purchase from an "Authorized Dealer" for? I'll just go to someone else...

Wow

That's sad to hear , if true. Their extended warranty is always a big selling point for me . When I make a big purchase with them.

Will they still be offering to extend warranties, before the original ones expire............?

They would always send me something in the mail asking if I wanted to extend the warranty before it runs out.

My previous HDTV went out , they were unable to get the parts to fix it.
So they gave me EVERY single penny back that I paid for my TV 3 years ago, in CC credit.

Now I have a 55 in. Sony LCos, which I've been very happy with.

I always get the warranty on the BIG purchases, but its the small stuff...dvd players, LCD screens, etc...I guess its a throw away piece after a year, but after 30 days you have to ship it back to the manufacturer.
