Default Yahoo! Offering Yahoo! Go PVR Software for Free

Turnaround time of just eight days right after Yahoo! bought Meedio, thats just awesome!!!

===

No more than a week after Yahoo! purchased Meedio does the venerable company turn around and release Yahoo! Go software for turning your PC into a TV-centric, connected appliance (via GigaOM). And just like the search engine they rose to fame with, Yahoo! Go is completely free. If you're already running PVR software, this may not interest you as much. However, if you're looking to dive into PVR software for the first time, it would be hard to ignore what Yahoo! is now offering for free, considering Yahoo! Go is nothing more than a rebranded version of the highly touted Meedio PVR software.

Yahoo's website offers a pretty good set of instructions on how to get your PC connected to your TV, what kind of PC you need, how to download and install the software and even how to setup your PC as a DVR. Additionally, since it is a Yahoo! product, Yahoo! Go integrates online connectivity into the application. You can view photos from your local hard drive, your Yahoo! Photos account or even view photos from flickr. That connectivity also means using Yahoo's own search engine to find videos and movie trailers for viewing on your TV. Integration with LAUNCHcast radio stations is also built-in. Overall, for a can't-beat-it price, Yahoo! Go looks like it may cause some ripples through the industry.
