Default Loves2Watch Memorial Thread

As many of you know Loves2watch passed away last night. While he was a moderator for a short time here, he was a long time member and resource for technical information and advise.

I would encourage members that have posted in his survival thread to also put a copy of their posts in this thread as well with any further comments they may have.

For me personally this is a loss that ranks up with the loss of PFC5 as they both were very valuable contributors to HDF. I will miss him greatly.

My heart is deeply saddened at the hearing of this news. Someone near and dear to all of us has been taken.
Our only consolation is that he is no longer suffering or in pain.
Michael my friend, Rest in Peace and take with you the knowledge that you have touched many hearts here and elsewhere, and gained the respect and admiration of all you have had the pleasure of interacting with you.

May you enjoy the Highest Definition in your new place, love you friend Mike, (da Rizz) it has been an honor knowing and conversing with you for all these years.

REST IN PEACE dear friend, and be comforted in his hands.

L2W memorial thread.

Dear Ian: I have sent you a letter, but I also wanted to write to you here to say that I hope you’ll read what has been written about your father in this memorial thread, in the “L2W” thread, “a couple of thoughts”, and elsewhere. and perhaps more importantly, I hope you’ll read what your father has posted here and at high def forum that inspired such admiration and affection from so many.

What you’ll find as you read may be totally consistent with your understanding of who your father was. or perhaps it will be very different. if you’re like most people, I suspect there will be some dissonance. in the fullness of our lives we play various roles and are often different things to different people; and no relationship is more complex than that between father and son.

We humans are such messy, unknowable, inconsistent creatures. each of us authentic... and yet contrived. wanting to do right... yet sometimes going about it all wrong. often demanding from others what we ourselves cannot always comfortably give. at worst, we cause ourselves and each other such unnecessary pain. at best, we transcend our fears and forgive each other -- and ourselves.

Because we’re each of us just human. and just trying to do the best we can.

I knew your father for only the last six months of his life, but he was my very dear friend. I have written much to him and about him on this site. our original forum conversations grew organically as our friendship deepened. as i told linda yesterday, I was such a newbie at forums in the beginning that i didn't realize that what I thought were quiet backwater chats were, in fact, generating thousands of views.

Why? Because people loved your father that much... not just because he was so very knowledgeable and generously helpful... not just because his blend of dignified reserve and wry humor was so very appealing... and not even just because he was so unflinchingly and inspiringly courageous throughout his ordeal.

We loved him because he truly did try to do the very best he could.

I cannot pretend to know all or even most of who your father was, but i can tell you with absolute certainty: he was an exceptional man. and with the same certainty i can tell you that, regardless of whatever differences may have separated you at times, he loved you so very, very much.

If you’ll forgive the presumption of a caring stranger, please know that I hold you closely in my heart -- as I did your father. I honor you for the care and comfort you gave him over these most difficult past few weeks, and I sincerely hope you’ll come back to rejoin your extended “family” here at hdj.

With warmest regards and heartfelt condolences, wooty

L2W befriended WOOTY while she was dealing with her own husbands encounter with cancer L@W reached out and comforted her in everyway he could.

And now he is no longer with us.

RIP Mike you will be sadly missed here, and at other forums you attended.

Your friend, Mike

A lot of people try to help and offer advice here, but L2W did it better than most. He was always thoughtful and courteous and his information always spot on. There were times I saw him trying to help someone that just wasn't getting it and exhibiting patience when a lot of us would have been tearing our hair out. There just aren't enough L2W's in this world and I know he'll be appreciated at his final destination. Rest well, friend.

Hello. My name is Linda. I have been Michael Gregory's friend for many years here in Las Cruces. Just wanted to thank everyone for their loving and supportive thoughts posted here. It has been a real pleasure to read so many comments about Michael that bring up great memories for me. I had the honor of being with Michael during the toughest times and was at his bedside when he peacefully passed the remote. He is missed so much already and as the days go by I am sure many more with come to realize what a treasure we had in Michael. thanks again everyone. May the Force be with you. Linda
It is certainly comforting to know that our friend L2W ( Mike) was not alone in his final days and moments of his life.
I would like to express my thanks to Linda for being there for him.

Michael was a very private person and disclosed very little even to those of us who were privileged enough to be a personal friend of his. He never spoke of his battles with Cancer of which he had many, nor did he seek sympathy. He derived great pleasure and satisfaction in sharing his knowledge and wisdom with anyone who came to seek it. He never gave up on anyone who needed his assistance, nor did he ever speak down to anyone, regardless of how simple their inquiries were. He delighted in the thought that he had simply helped another person. I don't believe I will ever meet another individual quite like Michael, Rest in peace dear friend. (once again my eyes swell up with tears, but my heart is comforted to know he no longer lives in such discomfort).

Vaya con Dios, Sir.
