I feel so sad for his children, because kids at that age should never have to go through this kind of loss.
This is so sad indeed. This loss really hurts me inside, I never thought an internet friend could mean so much when they're gone.

It's an awful thought to think that he'll never be posting again, but at least everything he posted is available to see. He was so nice to everybody and even the newcomers, who he went out of his way to help. I don't think anyone could ever come close to being the asset he was to the forum. HDF was blessed to have such a great member, and he'll always be remembered and become a forum legend.

Sad news for High Definition Forum members. I just talked to Paul's brother to find out our Super Moderator (emphasis on the super) passed away last February 25, 2011. He was only 50 years young. The cause was a brain aneurysm. I had been trying to get in touch for a couple of weeks to no avail and luckily his brother answered his phone. They were trying to figure out how to get in touch with us, so it was just a lucky thing that he was in Paul's office.

He is survived by his wife and four children ranging from 10 to 21 years. They have set up a scholarship fund for the younger children and any member that would want to contribute can at this address:

Cashman Children Scholarship Fund
c/o Commerce Bank
226 Boston Turnpike
Shrewsbury, MA 01545

I have suggested they set up a paypal account for the contributions and if they do I will post that information in this thread. In the meanwhile if any of you have online banking, it is very easy to have your bank send them a check, usually without fees.

PFC5 was a very valuable and trusted member and moderator here at HDF and had many more posts than any other member that I could think of. He was always ready and able to assist others, particularly new members, at every turn. He was stern but fair with his moderation duties and will be sorely missed. Please think about helping his family and keep them in your prayers.

Edit: Here is the paypal link for donations:http://www.highdefinitionblog.com/PFC5.htm
Thank you for sharing this terrible news. When I first came to this forum, PFC5 was someone who took time to help me with my questions and issues.

As so many have said, he was a very kind, considerate and helpful individual, loved by many and will be truly be missed.

To all the family and friends of PFC5, let me offer you my deepest and sincerest heartfelt condolances.

Take great pride and pleasure in knowing how respected and loved he was.

May God grant him eternal rest and peace and may he also grant you comfort.

RIP.

I'm so deeply saddened. Paul was truly a great personal friend to me for almost eight years. I very much enjoyed every single one of Paul's many posts and PMs.

I will be making a donation tomorrow morning and ask all of us to please do the same. Do it now, let his kids go to any school of their choices, let Paul's dedication of service to the a/v community give back with a little.

A great, kind and wise gentleman. I will carry a little, but valuable piece of you with me always. My sincerest condolences the the family.

Until we meet again my friend, I'll remain,

Yours truly

-Robert

Man this is so unexpected, I still can't believe it, I was just talking to him about a couch for my Ht room, now he is gone. I don't even know what to say, gosh he was such a nice guy. This is a truly sad day.

Thanks Rizz,
I used my bank's online checking to send a check because I was not sure they would be able to get the paypal set up. I'm glad they took my suggestion because I think many more would use paypal than sending a check. Again thanks and I'm sure his family thanks you as well.

It would be great if our community made a good showing for one of our own.
