From my point of view, its not a matter of false assumptions, its a matter that the guide is very incomplete. A more complete guide would list signal meters built into the tuner and scan capabilities if you have an antenna rotor as only two of many factors.

set a budget and stick to it. 2 Check with your friends and don't repeat their mistakes.3 Take a knowledgeable friend with you.
