Default Cut transport stream

I know of Hdtv2Mpeg but it wont let me cut a .ts from a dvd-r. Is there a way or program that can cut a .ts from a dvd-r?
When i want to cut a certain piece out from a movie i have to rip the dvd and that takes about 7 minutes then i use Hdtv2Mpeg to cut it. It would be easier just to cut it directly from the disc.

The data on a dvdr is read only. Is 7 minutes that big of a deal?

I got it to work.....Well sort of. I set the .tri file to a different directory other the the disc but then i cant select a Channel/PID....Its greyed out and wont let me cut it. The reason i want to do this is because im low on Hdd space and i cant rip a whole movie. I want to share a certain scene from one of the movies i have.
