I have to agree with Gabe. Too many great movie "clips" to download. So many "clips" so little time.

Whoa its here like being feeding with firehose thanx everybody

--------------------------------------------------------------------
-background of our joy-

btw: I wish to have all the 4K data (means 4000 line resolution) which scanned this ol good guy directly from original negatives
that must be something!!! He call it digital negative (not digital copy!!!)

http://www.apple.com/ca/pro/film/lowry/starwars/
http://www.apple.com/ca/pro/film/low...rs/index2.html

http://www.apple.com/ca/pro/film/lowry/
http://www.apple.com/ca/pro/film/lowry/index2.html

All scaned with this machine http://www.imagica-la.com/imagerXE/index.html . I saw it working on my own eyes with Kodak postproduction machine formely used on first Harry Potter

About starwars restoring:
"Each frame of film is slowly pulled past a CCD sensor. It takes approximately four seconds to take a frame of film and digitise it.

"When we're done we have a computer file of roughly 70mb for each frame of film. A movie such as Star Wars has about 180,000 frames."

So prepare that most of old good pieces which you will see in the HD future will go thru hands of this amazing man.

"The 70 MB per frame of film requires an enormous amount of storage, and fortunately there is an impressive 400 terabytes sitting just down the corridor.

Computers at Lowry Digital Images
Massive computing power brings the picture back to the original quality
The processing power is quite formidable too. The brains of the facility are 600 Apple G5s, each a dual processor 2GHz machine.

Mike Inchalik says: "The Apple G5s were chosen because it's an extraordinary floating point processing machine, and with 1,200 such processors there's a really immense amount of processing capability here. "

WOW!
