Default HD Films On DVD/TV ...N00b Question

Hi,

I have just bought a new tv and dvd player.
TV = Samsung LE40R51BX 40" Rome LCD TV High-Def Ready (Fully HD Ready)
DVD = Samsung HD850 (Fully HD Compatible, supports 720p, 1080i etc)

Well now i want to watch hd films and hd clips that can be downloaded from the night. I know how to download them and am pretty sure of how to put them on a disc. If i burned a hd download to a dvdr...would it play in hd through my tv ?

will say matrix reloaded (new hd version) fit on a disc ? and will it play in hd ? or do i have to wait for hd-dvd ??

how about clips ??

thanks alot guys....hd is pretty new in the UK, hence why i know so little about it.

1. Your TV has only 1366 X 768 Pixels Resolution not full 1080 lines.

2. Your DVD player Samsung HD850 - is ONLY UPCONVERTER from standart resolution DVDs!!! (and as I heard - very very bad) It probably dont play HD resolution data. So you need to return it and get nother one which can play HD files. (not sure but I think that AVEL link can play SOME of them). Now its all mess with these palyers, they dont play everything!

But you dont need any disk player. Your PC plays everythig? Best way is to play HD files directly from your PC via DVI/HDMI cable to your LCD TV. Your graphic card is far better upconverter. And you can more easily change software than hardware and upgrade new codeks when you need it, etc.

Better ask geeks in "DVD Players" forum.

"Samsung DVD-HD950
This new up-conversion player ensure that consumers who have invested in HDTV get the very best in DVD video and audio playback as well.

Samsung DVDHD850
Designed for consumers who want to get the most out of their HD displays with their existing DVD collections, it employs a digital process that upgrades the standard DVD resolution to high-definition. "

thanks for your help hawaj, im going to take your advice and connect to my tv from my pc.

my tv has one hdmi and an s-video slot, and my pc monitor has a free dvi-d socket.

is it just a simple case of buying a HDMI To DVI Cable ??
Some say male/female on them?

thanks for your help, much appreciated.

You are welcome j2k. And be sure you choose right software player and codecs for right HD media to get best results.

Experiment with BS player, Elecard, VLC player, FFDshow, Mplayer, Zoom, MPClassic etc.

I think that boys at "Flat panel" section help you more with HDMI/DVI
