This is the first week that DVD passed VHS in rental volume. It was June 2003.
I already did explain it, repeatedly. You're just ignoring me. See posts 60, 66, and 76 of this thread.

Disc sales overall though are still declining, and in the end, distributors don't care how they make revenue -- they just care about how much revenue the make.

Just how do you think BD sales are declining if its growth is 130% better than at this time last year?

He said "disc sales overall." BD has yet to cover the loss in sales that DVD is having.

It should cover the gap within the next year or so.

Nothing more than speculation.

The disc market is getting smaller (sales) and has been for the last 3 years.

Please show mathematically how the trend in the increase you cited for BD will overcome the overall decrease I cited for disc sales overall. (Hint: You can't, because my citation includes BD.)

And there is no evidence that would lead a reasonable person to think that that is going to suddenly change.

We don't ignore it; we perhaps understand business better than you do. What you seem to not realize that is that that data only shows how BD is growing; it doesn't show how that growth stacks up against the decline in DVD. As long as the total dollar amount decline in DVD is greater than the total dollar amount growth in BD, then the disc industry revenues is shrinking.

And just to drive this to the point of stupidity, if we assume straight-line trends (probably not a reasonable assumption, either way -- i.e., DVD is likely to fall more rapidly than straight-line, and BD is likely to rise more rapidly than straight-line), it will take until 2026 before Total Revenues recovers to last year's level.
