Default what are some DVD's w/great gret picture quality??

Hi...i am so frustrated having a 52" HDTV & not being able to find great picture quality DVD's...its always a guessing game & most times out of not, i always pic the loosers...looking for dvd's that will fill my screen w/ no annoying black bars(aspect ration 1:33??) w/ a clean clear crisp picture(like "300" or "Sky Captain & the World of Tommarrow")...any suggestions please??

DVD's? I think you're in the wrong section.

You're looking for a 1:85:1 or 1:78:1 AR.

Ready my sticky at the top about "Black Bars".

Sin City and Die Hard 4 have pretty good DVD quality.

I can't even watch my super-bit spider-man dvd after years of watching HD.

Give me High Def or give me death.

Then again I freaked out on thanksgiving cause of someone hooking up their ipod to my home theater. I forgot how bad the sound is on overly-compressed music. It sounded like it was coming from a tin can.

OK, no.

This is an enthusiast forum. DVD picture quality conversation is not going to get far.

No one misses macroblocking or compressed audio.

Seems some miss the digital edge enhancement, but Toshiba has you covered if you fall into that group

Agreed and I feel that discriminating against 2:35:1 and 2:40:1 movies is unfair. In fact, these are my favorite aspect ratios.

Agreed, IMO all movies should be scope.
