Very good article. I don't think piracy will ever go away. No matter how much protection they try and put on discs somebody will inevitably crack it!

You are not wrong there. Lol. There are people out there though who just sit there day after day trying to crack things! Thats why everytime they get some new copy protection, a few weeks later its useless again!

The problem with much of the copy protection schemes out there is that it punishes the honest customer more than the thieves. Just look at all the new movie releases that do not work until they are patched with the changes. People buy a new movie and cannot play it until the mfg of the player provide the patch.

There ya go. There's no need to lock ordinary people out of their own property, or lock consumers down to particular formats, or lock out other CE companies. DRM has nothing to do with piracy.
