Well, if your PS3 is within a couple hundred feet of WiFi router then you can download updates and install them in less than 3-5 minutes. It took 20 minutes for my HD DVD updates and that was by disc.

Mine take around 20 minutes to download. Then anywhere from 3-15 minutes to install.

Really? I just downloaded and installed 2.35 on someone's PS3 last week and it took about 2 minutes to download the update and another 2 minutes to install it. The PS3 was about 50-60 feet from the router.

It's a funny one. My mates PS3 updates in minutes, mine is more like 20-30 minutes to download the major updates. Yet downloading off PSN mine downloads at lightning pace, while his is a lot slower

For reasons unknown to me, my PS3 downloads anything slowly (relatively). Even when connected directly to my gigabit router. So all updates I get in a few minutes via PC and put them on a sd card. That is the fastest and safesfest way to update in my opinion.
